A Year of Redemption: 2021 Vintage Highlights
The 2021 vintage at Mount Veeder Winery is one for the books, marked by low yields and intensely flavored, small berries. Despite the challenges, it was a smooth and uneventful harvest season. The year began with minimal rainfall, ushering in the second consecutive year of drought in Napa Valley. Our harvest kicked off right on time, with our night picks beginning in mid-September and lasting into mid-October.

While the ongoing drought raises long-term concerns, it created a more balanced load on the vines, reducing the need for extensive pruning and fruit dropping. This natural adjustment allowed the grapes to develop exceptionally rich flavors. All in all, we are thrilled about the potential of the 2021 vintage.

Optimal Drinking Window: 2024 - 2035
While it's delightful to drink now with appropriate time in a decanter, allowing our wines to age for a few more years will let the complex flavors and tannins fully integrate, offering an even richer and more refined tasting experience.
For those who prefer to cellar their wines, this vintage will continue to evolve beautifully over the next decade or more, rewarding patience with exceptional depth and character.
